About Rigpa

Rigpa is a community dedicated to awakening the vast potential of wisdom and compassion we all have, which is so often hidden by the distractions of everyday life. Drawing its name from the Tibetan word ‘rigpa’—the ever-present, pristine awareness of the nature of mind—Rigpa offers a complete, authentic path of study and meditation leading to enlightenment, following the tradition of Tibetan Buddhism

Rigpa is open to anyone looking for more community, inspiration and inner strength in this uncertain and chaotic world.

What We Offer

  • The guidance of qualified and compassionate spiritual teachers and instructors,
  • A vibrant and experienced community, rich with friendship,
  • Dynamic city centres, beautiful places of retreat, and
  • The chance to meet some of the greatest spiritual masters of our age.

Through courses and retreats in centres worldwide, as well as online, Rigpa offers many ways to explore and practise what Buddha taught, and so reduce the suffering of ourselves and others.

Founded by Sogyal Rinpoche, author of the highly acclaimed The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying, Rigpa follows the Nyingma lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. Rigpa is led primarily by volunteers, many of whom are long term Buddhist practitioners, good friends who share an aspiration to realise their full inner potential, and to help others do the same.
