Ruth Seehausen was attracted to Tibetan Buddhism from a young age, and became a Rigpa student in 1986. She served as Sogyal Rinpoche’s assistant for twelve years, travelling all over the world with him, before becoming Rigpa Germany’s National Director for several years. Ruth completed the 2006–2009 Three Year Retreat in Lerab Ling, Rigpa’s retreat centre in southern France, as well as a number of shorter retreats over the decades. She now divides her time between Germany and France, devoting as much time as she can to intensive Dharma study, practice, and regular retreats. She is a student of the Milinda programme, a long-term teacher training under the guidance of Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche.
Ruth currently supports Rigpa residential and online retreats as a senior teacher, alongside working as a course-designer, in particular for the Dzogchen study programme. She is also interested in exploring the potential of individual mentorship on the Buddhist path.
Ruth holds an MA degree in psychology, and works professionally as a freelance trainer and coach, with special emphasis on meditation techniques. She has a deep interest in the workings of the mind, exploring how Buddhist study and practice can benefit a modern audience to cope with life’s challenges, and find lasting freedom.
Since her childhood, she has been passionate about the fine arts and photography, and has completed numerous trainings in this field.
